Housing Counseling

CCCS is certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as a comprehensive housing counseling agency. Counseling is provided in the areas of pre-purchase, mortgage default, post occupancy and loan declination.

At CCCS, we understand just how important your home is to your peace of mind. That’s why we offer an array of services to meet your housing needs. Our staff includes many HUD trained and certified housing counselors. Each counselor is an expert in resolving housing concerns. We’ve helped thousands of clients — people just like you — realize their housing dreams and we can help you, too.

Housing services are available at each of our CCCS offices. Below is a list of the services we offer:

FOR HOMEOWNERS:

Mortgage Default and Delinquency Counseling
If you are behind in your mortgage payments, the thought of losing your home can be terrifying. Foreclosures are occuring at record rates. Our counselors can help you establish a budget, set priorities, and determine the appropriate strategies to help you keep your property. Landlords and lenders are often willing to be flexible about repayment of late or missing payments. Our certified housing counselors will discuss your options and develop a plan to get you back on track.

Reverse Equity Mortgage Counseling
Available to homeowners over the age of 62, a Reverse Equity Mortgage permits clients to tap their home equity, allowing them to increase spendable income without selling their home or making loan payments. Our counselors will review your financial situation, determine if you qualify for a home equity mortgage and help you evaluate other options for increasing income.

Post-Purchase Counseling
Second mortgages, equity loans, home improvement loans, and refinancing are carefully examined in this informational session.

FOR PROSPECTIVE HOMEOWNERS:

Homebuyer Education Workshops
For aspiring homeowners, CCCS can help you understand the home buying process; decide how much you can realistically afford; review your credit and help you prepare your credit for home ownership; develop a savings plan for your down payment; and decide what kind of mortgage is right for you.

Finding a home you like is just the beginning. Learning about what is involved in becoming a homeowner will save you time and unnecessary worry and will probably save you money in the process.

These workshops provide a step-by-step explanation of the home buying process. They are also HUD-approved for mortgage insurance reduction and down payment assistance education requirements.

To register, call CCCS Client Services at 1-800-281-5969.

Pre-purchase Counseling
Learn the basics of the home buying process in a private one-hour session with a CCCS-certified housing counselor.

As you become a homeowner, CCCS can show you how to develop a monthly budget to help you plan for household expenses, improvements and those “unexpected” bills that may arise.
